Our team are highly trained in many areas and are happy to look after your general health and more specific requirements. We are dedicated to listening to you, discussing your physical and mental concerns in an honest and open fashion. We will provide you with up to date, evidence-based medical advice to make informed choices when it comes to managing your health.

​For many years our practice has been involved in the education of medical students and students may visit the practice to observe consultations as part of their curriculum. We always advise patients in advance if a student is present and will only invite a student to observe your consultation with your full permission.
​
The practice is also a training practice for specialist trainees in general practice from the Irish College of General Practitioners training scheme. These trainees are qualified experienced doctors and are undertaking further experience and training in general practice. They remain in the practice from periods of 6 months to 1 year.

Dr Mairead Martin

Dr Martin qualified in medicine at University College Cork. She qualified as a General Practitioner from the Cork GP Scheme. She has a higher qualification in children’s health and family planning.
She has worked and lived in Youghal for over 20 years.

Dr Aoife Moloney

Dr Moloney graduated from UCC in 2001 and worked in Cork, Dublin and London before joining Emmet Place Practice in 2006. She developed an interest in providing diabetes care while in the UK and through this has developed a strong interest in helping patients to prevent illness & to manage their long-term conditions. She likes to take a holistic approach which focuses on the whole patient and not just their illness and she will also focus on good nutrition, being physically active, getting good sleep and managing environmental stress to try & support patients to achieve better health. She has expertise in all aspects of women’s health. She is a tutor on UCC’s module in cardiovascular disease for other GPs and practice nurses and she is also a trainer in the Cork GP training scheme In her spare time she loves spending time with her family & to be outdoors as much as possible. She enjoys reading, travelling, good food and good company.

Dr Aoife Moloney works Monday, Tuesday & Thursday.
Dr Ali Sethi
​
Dr Ali Sethi joined the practice in June 2024. Dr Ali is originally from Pakistan and did his undergraduate medical training in Xi'an Jiaotong University in China graduating in 2012. He then returned to Pakistan where he completed specialist training in Paediatrics before deciding to pursue a career in General Practice. Dr Ali worked as a General Practitioner along with other partners for 6 years in Pakistan. He moved to Ireland with his family in Jan 2023 and was working as a GP in Ennis before joining Emmet Place Family Practice.
His medical interest areas include management of acute and chronic conditions and minor surgical procedures.
Outside of work enjoys spending time with his family, exploring and travelling to new places.
Dr Roelien Jefferys

Dr. Roelien Jefferys joined the practice in June 2024 after relocating to Ireland from Port Elizabeth, South Africa. She completed her medical training at the University of Pretoria, graduating with honours in 2012. Over the next eight years, Dr. Jefferys worked in various fields, gaining extensive expertise in emergency medicine, general surgery, paediatrics, and family medicine in both hospital and community settings. Since January 2021, she has been working as a General Practitioner (GP). Outside of work, Dr. Jefferys enjoys photography, travelling and reading.
Meet Our Nurses
Nurse Eimear Coffey
​
In 2001 Eimear commenced her studies in General Nursing in Mercy University Hospital and University College Cork. Once graduated as a Nurse she continued to work in the South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital and completed her degree in General Nursing in UCC in 2004. While working in the South Infirmary Eimear gained valuable years of experience working in the Female Medical ward and in theatre. She was then offered a part time position here in Emmet Place Family Practice as Practice Nurse. Eimear is with us just over six years now and enjoys the varied nursing that it provides and has a keen interest in women’s health and diabetes. Eimear enjoys golf, flower arranging and GAA.
Nurse Emer McCarthy

Emer trained as a general nurse in Cork University Hospital and received her Honours Bachelors Degree from UCC in 2007. She worked in Beaumont Hospital on the surgical ward before moving to Whitfield Clinic and gained further experience in medical/surgical/orthopaedic/ophthalmology nursing. Emer also specialised in care of the elderly as a staff nurse and ward manager. In July 2022, Emer joined Emmet Place Family Practice as a Practice Nurse, Emer is a registered sample taker with cervical check, she also looks after childhood vaccines, phlebotomy, ECG, 24 hour blood pressure monitors, cryotherapy and wound care. Emer has keen interest in chronic long term conditions and wound care.
Nurse Zoey Barry

Zoey received her Honours Bachelors Degree from UCC in 2017 having trained in Cork University Hospital. As a General Nurse she worked in Tipperary University Hospital in a General Medical/Surgical area of the hospital before joining the practice as a Practice Nurse in 2023. Zoey looks after phlebotomy, adult & childhood vaccines, wound care & dressings, ECG, 24hour blood pressure monitors, Ear Syringing & venesections. She also looks after Chronic Disease Management and has a keen interest in long term chronic conditions.

Lisa Clancy manages the day to day running of the practice. She has a background in IT and has over 20 years’ experience working in GP practice.

Our Administration team have between them many years of experience. They are diligent, conscientious, and professional and are always on hand to give you a warm reception. They are available to make appointments, answer queries and they work behind the scenes contributing to the smooth running of our practice. Your confidentiality is guaranteed in all interactions.
